James's story
Pathways to employment
When James was a teenager, he escaped his home situation and went to live on the streets. He found solace with our partner, who gave him a safe place to sleep and encouraged him to complete his education – which he did.
As a young adult, he faced the overwhelming prospect of finding work as well as battling his fear of going back to the streets.
Working with our partner, we supported James with vocational training in plumbing and masonry. This opened doors into short-term work where he gained vital work experience and a small income.
Today, he is consistently getting jobs on construction sites. He uses a portion of his earnings to support his mother and grandmother.
