A child's story
Education for a village
Primary school should be a fun and exciting experience for every child. However, for children in India who speak minority languages, it used to be a dreaded experience, with very few completing their first year.
This was because classes were taught in a language they were unfamiliar with, which led to their isolation and exclusion at school.
Together with our partner, we are working with remote communities to run multi-lingual schools that offer a life-changing curriculum that teaches children in their mother tongue. As they progress, we gradually introduce state and national languages.
For the first time, children from these communities can read and write, and they are experiencing the joy of learning and attending school.
