Strengthening communities
When a community works together, they can achieve so much more. But often, it takes time to build trust and a shared vision of change. Our partners use a process called ‘community strengthening’, that brings communities together to talk, share their struggles and build solidarity around the challenges that they all face.
From this place of unity, the group starts to identify their strengths and find solutions to overcome their community’s challenges. In India, for example, village members have worked together to pay the salaries for teachers in their village schools. And in Malawi, local churches are in the early stages of exploring how they might address food insecurity in their communities by working together.
