Arabo Hellen is a farmer from Soroti in Teso region, north east Uganda. She is one of 40 female farmers who are determined to overcome challenges and farm their land independently.
Arabo Hellen has diabetes and she doesn’t live close to a medical facility for regular check-ups and treatment. A good dependable income from her land would enable her to travel regularly for treatment.
Last year, with our support, Arabo Hellen grew groundnuts, sorghum, cassava and simsim. As well as having enough food to feed her family she gained £303 from her crop, helping to pay school fees and buy a pig for her farm.
We want to help Arabo Hellen even more this year. She has to farm her land alone and finds it difficult ploughing her six acres then weeding during the crucial growing seasons. With support, Arabo Hellen can get help to plough and weed her land.
£25 provides a female farmer with timely help to plough and weed her land so her crops will flourish.
